Monsoon Sickness & its Prevention

The season of rain has come and we need to keep our kids safe and prevent them from getting ill.

1. What can be the checklist for common diseases and how these can be prevented?

A. Diarrhoea (loose motions) – caused by contaminated food and water in areas of poor sanitation facility.
B. Typhoid – caused by contaminated food and water.
C.Viral cough and cold – caused by getting wet in rains, through close contact with infected person
D. Fungal skin infection – caused by dirty rain water, dehydration and humidity
E. Eye infection – caused by increased moisture in air, can cause itchy, dryness, redness and conjunctivitis


2. What are the rainy season precautions?

A. Drink boiled or filtered water
B. Take a break from street food
C. Prefer hot food and beverage
D. Take shower if you get wet in rains
E. Wash your hands before eating
F. Use mosquito repellent
G. Keep your house clean
H. Avoid getting wet in rain


3. How to keep our kids protected during rainy seasons (general precautions)?

A. Keep them away from power sockets
B. Don’t ring door bell with wet hands
C. Do not let your kids stand near billboards, trees, electric poles etc.


4. Any diet to improve immunity?

Include dry fruits like dates, almonds, cashew in your diet which is rich in vitamins and minerals, which help in boosting immunity


5. Any vaccine for prevention of viral infection in this season?

This is the best season to receive your flu shots which will protect you from getting serious respiratory infection
